The Constant Cynic

My blog on current events. It includes politics, technology, sports, and more. I include my special cynical commentary on everything. Completely nonpartisan views.

There have been so many natural disasters that everyone probably gets them mixed up. Here's a quick rundown.

Hurricane in Burma

So first a hurricane hit Burma which is a very poor country and possibly killed 100,000 people. There is still not a solid number since many bodies have disintegrated in the water, etc. Burma is run by a bunch of Communists that like the hoard all the money, so aid took a long time to get to the people. Even then it was not adequate and the international community wanted to help. Unfortunately, these idiots didn't want foreign soldiers on their soil, so the U.S. had ships filled with stuff idling off the coast. Eventually they let aid in, but not before more people needlessly died.

Earthquake in China

A 7.9 earthquake in southwest China killed about 80,000 people. Many buildings have been destroyed and thousands have been displaced. China sent a bunch of soldiers to help, but from I saw on TV, they aren't very productive. There was 2 soldiers carrying 1 person on a stretcher and at least 5 more running beside them for no apparent reason.

Tornadoes across U.S.

So far, 110 people have died from many tornadoes in several states. It is possible this year will be the deadliest year of hurricanes. They just seem coming all the time. Some people are attributing this to global warming, but it's too early to tell.

Flood in Missouri

Huge storms overflowed the Mississippi River causing mass flooding across Missouri. The levees that were made to hold the water back failed, but there have been some semi-successful efforts for the army and residents to hold back the water.

Fires in California

Lighting from thunderstorms in northern California sparked the dry brush starting hundreds of fires stretching 450 miles. The firefighters are having trouble dealing with them due to the sheer amount of fires. If you think about it, the number of fires may seem overwhelming, but California is such a large state that the fires have a limited effect on the general landscape.

    Tomorrow - Greenland melts.
Next month - Category 12 Hurricane
    Six months - Mega-earthquake
    Next year - Apocalypse

=(. It's sad how all these events seem to be piling on top of each other. Nice summary! Also, I like how our sites look so similar, heh. Go Apple!
