The Constant Cynic

My blog on current events. It includes politics, technology, sports, and more. I include my special cynical commentary on everything. Completely nonpartisan views.

The servers are getting owned right now, so here's a download link. As far as I know, it is the final and not RC.

There's all these links floating out there, but they're all RC for testers. The links were taken from mozilla ftps that were updated left week. If you look at the file size of filehippo, RC3 and final are exactly the same to the last byte.

Firefox 3 is due to be release at 10:00 AM Pacific Time this morning. That's about and hour and a half from now.

I decided I will download Firefox 3 today just to see what all the hype is about and help break the world record. I'll admit that I used to be a huge Firefox fan 4 years ago whenever there were few people using it. Then Opera stopped having ads and I've been using it ever since.

Firefox is mainly used by disillusioned fanboys that really no nothing about the browser. They use the abbreviation FF. Unfortunately, these idiots who think they know a lot about the browsers really don't know much at all. The correct and official abbreviation is Fx. All of them claim that "FF" is so fast, but test have proven that Opera AND IE7 are faster than Fx.

I disregard any previous feelings about the browser and update this post with my opinion.

The speed of Fx3 was faster than I expected, but still not as fast as Opera. I did like a few features though. The address bar is awesome, because it has a title above the link. As always, there's lots of great addons to make it like Opera yet it is still lacking. There aren't very many good themes though the original one is decent.

One thing that I like about Opera is that it doesn't reload the page when you push back while Firefox loads every page and when coupled with slower speed is tedious.

I'm going to get using Firefox for a while to try it out, yet it is still not as good as Opera. I was much more impressed at Fx3 than Fx2 which was pretty much the same stuff.

Surprisingly, not a lot of people pay attention to Safari, which loads pages faster than any other web browser. Unfortunately, it still needs refining for Windows, since it doesn't always display pages correctly, but it should still be an option.
